7 Ways to Social Bookmarking
By Raymond Nesa

Social bookmarking is a way for people to find collections of useful resources. These bookmark lists are either available to the general public or a specified group of people. Mostly they are used by people who have interests in common. Here are 7 ways to productive social bookmarking.

1. Tags. Most social bookmarking is done by tags, and allows search results and rankings according to the number of people who have bookmarked those particular resources. Make sure you enter appropriate tag information.

2. Keywords. This is another way to categorize a bookmark, and for productive social bookmarking you should make sure yours includes keywords that people would search for on the internet in the order in which they would be written.

3. Topics. This is similar to using keywords, except that they are more like titles, and titles are the most important part of an article written for web content--they should contain the keywords, and so should your topic, for productive social bookmarking.

4. Category. Some bookmarks are sorted by category, such as games, food products, music, etc. Make use of this by including it in your topic and keyword phrase.

5. Use feeds. Make sure your bookmarking service offers the choice of web feed subscriptions. This allows up to date information to be send to users constantly.

6. Remember that, unlike search engines, the bookmarking services don’t have standards when it comes to keywords. However, stick to the ones that are understandable--don’t try to be cute.

7. You are also competing with spammers. There is no regulation on spamming bookmarking services, so remember to stay relevant.
